Twenty five years is not a long period in the lifespan of an educational institution. However, St. Mary’s Institute of Technology and Science (SITS) has every reason to celebrate its Silver Jubilee. The spread of corona pandemic made us postpone the Silver Jubilee celebrations to 2022 lagging a year behind. This is an opportunity for us to gratefully recall the past feats and the sweat and toil of people instrumental to them. It is equally an occasion to rededicate ourselves to the founding vision and enduring mission of SITS. This souvenir captures in words and frames both the achievements of the past and our aspirations for the future.
From its humble beginning in 1996, with the first batch consisting of 16 ITI students, SITS has now grown into three distinct concerns: St. Mary’s Private ITI with NCVT courses in Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Electrical and Fitter branches;
St. Mary’s Short term Welding Courses; St. Mary’s Polytechnic College holding AICTE approved diploma courses in five branches, namely, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Computer and Automobile. SITS campus comprises a student body of around 1300 youngsters and nearly 120 staff members in various segments. Above all, SITS serves the society by making hundreds of young people employable every year, while providing direct employment to more than hundred men and women.
SITS is immensely grateful to God for designing and deciding the course of its progression. We are indeed indebted to Mar Jacob Manathodath, Bishop of Palghat and chairman of St. Mary’s Educational Trust, Mar Peter Kochupurakal, the Bishop designate of Palghat diocese, the Trust members, advisory board members, directors and joint/assistant directors, Principals, teaching and non-teaching staff members, our partners in industry, students, neighbors and all our well wishers for their valuable contribution towards making SITS what it is now. We are proud of all our students who represent the value system and technical acumen acquired from “St. Mary’s” in different floors of engineering fields.
